Delivery driver wins Unfair Dismissal case
Wednesday 17 February 2010A delivery driver from Cardiff has been awarded over £3,000 by an employment tribunal for unfair dismissal.
The driver had complained of bullying and derogatory comments from his line manager. The manager denied the claims. No complaint had been brought by the driver during his employment with the company.
The tribunal found that the proper procedures for dismissal had not been followed by the company when sacking the driver who in turn was awarded compensation for unfair dismissal.
"The case highlights the importance of proper HR policies and procedures being in place, and moreover, the need to follow those procedures at all times when handling difficult employee problems" comments Ian Millington. "Employers beware: employees have the law on their side!"
